The more and more you work in this industry, picking up new skills and experience as you go
along, you started to realize something and it will change your state of mind, FOREVER!!.
Well, maybe it doesn't happen to everyone, but at least it is for me.. Let me tell you what
happened.. I used to love 3D and all that CG stuff when I was young(er). From then on,
I started to learn the software, watch many tutorials on how to create stuff, models, FX,
animation, compositing, everything. I want to create what the guys at ILM did, robots in
Transformers or Star Wars, Pixar movies, and all that shit.
But then after a while, you started to think.. hey wait a minute, what makes those movies so
special? In fact all that fancy stuff that CG guys did is just to fill in the movie. They were in
service for another person's idea. it's the Director and Writers! they are the storytellers!
That's it! it all boils down to you being a storytellers. No matter what it is whether it will be
Live action or cartoon, it's just a medium and the story goes beyond medium. And it changes
the way you think and learning stuff. I started to steer away from technical part and go after
the creative side, instead of learning Python and programming, I choose to learn scriptwriting,
I try to understand camera composition a little more.. How to block a shot, cinematography,
and also storyboarding, visualizing your script into an image through the camera point of view.
Animation is also a huge deal because you learn acting and telling the emotion through the
character, it is what movie about anyway.
Be an artist is gonna be always work for someone else s ideas, so you don't perfecting your
skills as an artist.. you go after becoming a Director! you gotta make your own movie. That's
where the fun really are.. :D
