A lot of animators just doing their shot just for the sake of it, because it's a job. I must admit I have experienced that before, I get so tired of working and working and when you get burned out, you tend to feel like throwing your brain out of the window. But a great artist never feels like they're just doing their work day in day out and expect to clock in, do their job and by the end of the day, go home to work on their personal project or one that they more passionate about. It's wrong people!
Your job is the one you should have most passionate about! A great animators and storytellers always try to push himself, and always wishing that their shot is the most beautiful, the most polished, and the most creative they could possibly do for that particular moment. It's not about the next shot, a lot of them always think, if only I have a better shot, or I will do it better on the next shot; there is no next shot! It's the one you currently working is what matters.
Don't do it for your boss, or the director, or clients. But do it for yourself, do it for the audience. So when they sees it, they don't see, ah..it's just a person doing a job, but it comes from a beautiful performer and it resonates in their heart.
When you have a mindset of a great artist then you should, and only then become a great artist. Now this is a reminder for all of us artists, it certainly as well as for me to always push yourself. Do the job you're afraid of, only then you can grow and moving forward, and further toward the one you probably dreaming of.
