privilege for me to share this dreams to a lot of people, and hopefully can inspire some of
you as well.
Every animators or at least people who worked in this industry should know the history of it.
But for some of you who hasn't , Calarts is stands for California Institute of Arts. This is a
school where many many great artists was born, just to name a few, they are the great Glen
Keane, John Lasseter, Tim Burton, Brad Bird, Henry Sellick, they're just a few from many
more who have a very compelling vision and passion, and now noticeably well known as a
great directors!
Yes, they're an old school directors and if you noticed, some of them actually attended the
school in the same year, even some of them were classmate back then, and according to my
prediction, the reason why they're so successful is because they're taught by the masters of
animation itself, no other than the Disney Nine Old Men. This is based on a fact, and I knew
a lot about the history of each of these guys. But that is not what I want to talk about here.
Even today, Calarts still producing a lot of great animators and visionary directors, that's
because the school implemented the system left by the Nine Old Men, which is to protect the
story and characters. No matter what you do, what medium you're using, what matters is the
story and that's the key. they also stressed the importance of understanding the inner feelings
of the character that they're going to create, they have to be a film maker first, before doing
anything else. And this... is why I want to go there so bad!
This has been my lifelong dream to go there and learn the film making process, by being
around those who have the same passion as you do, and being involved in a creative process
of channeling the emotion you want to convey to the audience through a film. This is also
why Pixar always hired Calarts graduates instead of any other institution, it's not because John
was came from there, but it's because their student-film are so rich of emotion. Prove me
wrong on this, but if you seen their movie, it's just different... I'm not saying that any other
institution is not good, but they have their own style of telling a story. But for me, there's
nothing better than Calarts when it comes to telling a story.
So... right now, I am working hard to achieve my dreams that someday I'm gonna be able to
go there and eventually learn to become a good film maker and someday I can direct my own
movie, where I can connect the audiences emotionally, through my film. And that... is my
lifelong dream =)
